ILO Symposium Reinforces Labour Rights and Social Dialogue in Women’s Football

On 16 July 2025, the International Labour Organization (ILO), alongside key institutional and football stakeholders, convened a high-level symposium in Geneva to address labour conditions in women’s sport. The event, held during UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, aimed to reinforce social dialogue, promote gender equity and drive forward responsible governance in the professionalisation of women’s football.

A Strategic Dialogue for Decent Work in Women’s Football

Hosted at the ILO Headquarters and co-organised with the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the Centre for Sport and Human Rights, the symposium brought together a wide array of participants - from leagues and player unions to civil society and government representatives.
