FIFPRO and the World Leagues Association Comment on the Latest ILO's Developments on Collective Bargaining Rights


On 7 June 2024, the World Leagues Association (WLA) and World Professional Footballers' organization, FIFPRO, warmly welcome the newly adopted technical brief on athletes’ rights at work by the International Labor Organization (ILO). This technical document primarily focuses on the promotion and protection of collective bargaining rights as a fundamental industry right.

The Global Labour Agreement (GLA), which was signed in September 2022, created a new international bargaining framework between FIFPRO and the WLA. This agreement establishes FIFPRO and the WLA as the employer and employee representatives. The GLA aligns with ILO’s 1998
