By decision dated 20 June 2013, the Swiss Federal Tribunal has adjudicated upon a Civil Law Appeal, filed by the Egyptian Football Federation (EFA) against an Award rendered by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on 2 October 2012.

The Swiss Federal Tribunal's decision addresses, inter alia, the question whether a particular legal remedy, existing under the rules and regulations of the EFA, must be exhausted prior to an Appeal in front of the CAS.

On 1 February 2012, in the Egyptian city of Port Said, tragic events occurred after a match between the local football team Al-Masry Sporting Club ("Al-Masry") and the Cairo team Al-Ahly Sporting Club ("Al-Ahly").
