In 2001, the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA) created a system for dispute resolution. The aim was trying to solve the disputes related to football within the “football family”. Thus, concerning labor disputes, FIFA created Players’ Status Committee (PSC) and the Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) to solve these controversies with an international dimension. However, FIFA could not take all the labor disputes worldwide because it does not have enough resources. Thus, for purely national disputes, FIFA required as an obligation for national associations to have or be affiliated with an independent and duly constituted arbitration tribunal or to have a clause indicating that the controversies between clubs and players can be solved in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
