Recent approach of FIFA towards enforcement proceedings against clubs undergoing insolvency

FIFA, Case no. 150206

On 16 October 2014, a professional football player obtained a favorable decision from the FIFA DRC against the Romanian club FC Rapid Bucuresti (in insolvency), whereby the club was obliged to pay the player a particular amount representing the unpaid salaries for the period of contract as well as a substantial compensation resulting for the termination without just cause at the club’s initiative.

The club never appealed the decision that accordingly became final and irrevocable. Shortly after, in view of the refusal of the club to pay, the player informed the FIFA Disciplinary...
