According to UEFA Club Competition regulations, football clubs must qualify on the basis of sporting merit, but they must also comply with other preconditions, such as licensing requirements. An 10 November 2024, Drogheda United (Appellant) won the FAI Cup (Ireland) and qualified for the 2025-2026 UEFA Conference League on sporting merit. The Appellant club and Silkeborg IF (SIF)[1] were majority-owned by Trivela Pathway Limited Partnership (LP), and Trivela Group (based in the United States) was the ultimate controlling party.
