Football regulations well establish that a player’s inability to perform due to illness or injury does not constitute just cause for unilateral termination by a club. Furthermore, said player has the right to choose where and with whom to seek medical treatment.

Facts and Procedure

On 9 July 2024, the Parties executed an employment contract effective from 10 July 2024 to 30 June 2026. Under Clause 2, the Player was entitled to a net monthly remuneration of EUR 4,200 for the 2024-2025 season (payable in 12 monthly installments), plus a monthly rent subsidy of EUR 500, holiday/Christmas allowances, and two round-trip flight tickets between Portugal and Brazil per season.
