FIFA Announces New Women's Football Developments


On 15 May 2024, ahead of their upcoming Congress on 17 May 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand, the world football's governing body announced a series of changes affecting the women's game, including a revamped international match calendar for female athletes. On the same day, Mr. Mattias Grafström was also formally appointed as FIFA Secretary General. The FIFA Council made these decisions.

Since FIFA introduced new minimum conditions for female footballers on 19 November 2020 to create a suitable regulatory framework for the women’s game, the development of women’s football has been consistent across most member associations.
