What are the legal consequences of the COVID-19 crisis on the contracts between clubs and players? Do you think that players can refuse a salary reduction? Do you think that players can refuse to train or play over security concerns?

a) As long as clubs and players do not agree on a modification to an existing contract (as most clubs in Germany managed to negotiate with the teams), there is no direct consequence, in particular no right to unilaterally reduce the players’ salary during the lockdown or to send them for part-time work....
