Since its launch at the end of 2008, bitcoin has gone from being a UFO to a halo in front of which we take a bow. Born from the intersection of finance and technology, bitcoin (with a lowercase “b”) is based on a technology that is often described as disruptive: Bitcoin blockchain (with a capital “B”). The use of the same name to describe the blockchain and the most famous cryptocurrency is the origin of the first confusion for the general public: one was taken for the other and vice versa. Since the Bitcoin (blockchain) and its native currency, bitcoin, many blockchains and fungible virtual currencies have emerged (thousands are listed to date).
