A New Law for Professional Sport

The Law of 1 March 2017 aims to preserve the ethics of sport, to strengthen the regulation and transparency of professional sport and to improve the competitiveness of the clubs. The text contains very different and more or less important provisions. Presentation of the main measures.

Promoting transparency and ethics

The Law first provides for the drafting of a charter of ethics and professional conduct by sporting federations by 31 December 2017. This charter of ethics and professional conduct must comply with the principles defined by the French Committee of Olympic and Sports Organization (CNOSF).

Moreover, the Law provides for an obligation to report to the High Authority on the transparency of the public life of the presidents of the delegated federations, the professional leagues, the CNOSF and the French Paralympic and Sports Committee.
