Having been engaged on several occasions, both recently and in the past, by Indonesian Intermediaries and now Football Agents, to assist with Indonesia-based player/club payment disputes, it piqued my interest that the Indonesia Football Association (PSSI) has had a National Dispute Resolution Chamber (NDRC) since 2019. When advising these Indonesia-based clients who seek a quick resolution on possible options, some are unaware of this NDRC. Further clients ask me the most common question - what forum should we choose on behalf of the player to seek out their dispute. Is it preferable it be the Indonesian NDRC or FIFA’s Football Tribunal (Dispute Resolution Chamber)?
Of course, the answer to this question is subject to satisfying the requisite criteria, relevant jurisprudence and whether a national or international dimension applies to the facts of the dispute. I am in favour of quick resolutions of disputes;...
