FIFPRO Claims Justice in a Latvian Match-Fixing Case


On 30 July 2025, FIFPRO, the world representative association of players’ unions, denounced the story of a footballer who was wrongfully accused of match-fixing and subsequently had his ban overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The global union claims that the player’s experience over the past two years has been a "fight for justice”.

Arturs Lotcikovs, a Latvian defender, received a 12-month ban and a financial penalty imposed by the Latvian Football Federation (LFF). Following an extensive four-and-a-half-season tenure in Latvia’s top league, Mr. Lotcikovs transitioned to the second-tier club Dinamo Riga in June 2023.
